4th of July Fun!

Over the 4th of July week, we had visitors!  My sister and brother-in-law were in town visiting us and another friend, and so we got a chance to go back to their friend's amazing salt water pool.  EJ had a great time and got to experience more firsts (diving board, fireworks,...)

I actually have a bunch of videos, so please check back soon - once I have a chance to get them uploaded!

Enjoy!

LOVE the expression!

EJ's first time on a DIVING BOARD!!  At 2 1/2 yrs old!
She doesn't look all that scared, does she?  Fearless...always.

She didn't 'just' jump...

She jumped about 4 feet out...ON TOP OF me!  :)

What do YOU think?  Do you think this kiddo enjoys the water?

"Ta da!!," she says.  This girl LOVED the diving board...it was just unbelievable to watch.

Funny picture...it looks like Aunt K is walking on water!

Back to the diving board!  She's holding a thermometer for the pool, but it looks like a little kid torch.

What an awesome jump!

Sad that we have to get out of the pool...

Mommy 'n' EJ with our matching wet pigtails.

Intense hugs for Aunt K.

Later that evening, we got to go on the giant, awesome boat...and the lil' one gets to wear a life jacket...only she can make these things look cute.
Loved being a big girl on a big boat with all the big people!

It's getting darker!  That means 'firemen' are coming!  (She kept calling the fireworks 'fireman' or 'fireman')
It didn't dawn on me until she was already 1 hour past her bedtime and we were sitting in the middle of the crowded lake with no chance of getting out of there that she could be SCARED of the loud noises and big lights...I became a little concerned, even though my gut was "She'd love to see those," originally when we decided to go do this.
Thankfully, my gut was right.  I got to hear this huge, drawn-out, 2 yr old gasp of delight, followed by, "Oh WOW! This is FUN!" Absolutely the highlight of the entire day for me.

While everyone was still in town, we headed to an outdoor concert on yet another hot, 100-degree evening.  As you can see from some of the backgrounds, only a few other adventurous souls went, too.

Sharing a drink in the HOT evening...

Silly girls with our mouths full :)

EJ doing "PDA" with her Aunt K
(by the way, for all of you who think this resembles me, it's not me...it's my sister...apparently, we look alike, although I don't really see it!)

Such a lovely kid, eh?

Another intense squeeze from EJ.  Don't you LOVE this face?

It's such a big breath for bubbles, she had to hold her tummy!

"Catch me!  Catch me!," says Mommy!

Preparation for the "Mommy spin"

That's right - completely horizontal.  :)

And STILL more time in the awful heat.  This was one of the roughest trips I've ever taken to the zoo, and our phones were saying it was something like the upper 90's.  As we arrived back home, the temps were either upper 90's or something like 102 (I can't quite remember - they all start blurring together when you have a record-setting 10 days in a row over 100 degrees)...and that's 102 before the humidity and heat index!
Pause zoo-watching events for intense kisses for Mommy...she wouldn't let go either, which was hilarious, and this was me laughing at her intensity.  What was that old gum commercial??  "Just kiss a little longer...hold tight a little longer..."  Yup - for those of us who remember the 80's, you're singin' it!

My sis and I (definitely HER more than me) got a kick out of this camel that literally looked like he was dead from the heat...just appeared that he couldn't take it anymore and gave up.  The head is pointed upward for dramatic affect, we think.

Wonder what's going on in her mind as she watches the giraffes....

Hot, sweaty mess from our hot day at the zoo.
